Truly Global?

What we mean when we describe SFIA and SkillsTX as truly global.

You may be aware that each SFIA8 skill description is precise, reflecting many hours of thought and international collaboration. In order to ensure that SFIA retains its Universal applicability, the SFIA Foundation requires the same level of preciseness in regard to its language translations. For instance, their network of volunteers, using the same level of diligence, have now translated SFIA8 into the following languages. (And still counting):

  • Deutsch (German)
  • Español (Spanish)
  • 日本語 (Japanese)
  • 中国 (Chinese)
  • Français (French)
  • Italiano (Italian)
  • Polskie (Polish)
  • Русский (Russian)

SkillsTX is truly global

SkillsTX are very proud to now include ALL of the #SFIA translated languages within our #digitalskills management solution, helping us support our multi-national clients. And we are particularly thankful for all the hard work that it entailed. So, we too can claim that SFIA and SkillsTX are truly global.

SkillsTX invested heavily to ensure we make new language translations available within a few days of their launch. This means our users can seamlessly switch languages in real-time, allowing them access to their preferred language at their discretion.

Not just simple neural machine translations

These SFIA translations were undertaken by native language speakers. They were deconstructed word by word to ensure the best possible outcome, which was no simple task. Subtle differences can exist for even the simplest words.

  • Example: The word English word ‘Back’ in the context of a button means ‘go back’. However, in Spanish it can translate as your physical back and would just not make sense. And there are countless examples, particularly when the language relates to the digital environment.

 

In this time of digital revolution and a global economy, technology workers, more and more have the need to work remotely, often via different Countries. The promise of SFIA to provide a global consistent language to describe skills in the information age is well and truly underpinned by the official SFIA translations available and supported by SkillsTX.
